James J. Sarkis Sr. 79

March 11, 2025

James Joseph Sarkis Sr., 79, of Williamstown died on Tuesday March 11, 2025 at North Adams Regional Hospital. He was born in North Adams on January 24, 1946 a son of the late Joseph Richard & Martha (Morin) Sarkis.



James attended North Adams Schools and graduated from Drury high School in 1965. He was employed at General Electric Co. in Pittsfield in the Chemical Department and then at Lockheed Martin Corporation, and General Dynamics where he was a shop steward in the Defense Department in the tank division. He was a loyal and dedicated employee for many years retiring in 1999.



James was a devoted Red Sox, Celtics and Steelers fan. He especially loved spending time with his family – he was at all his children’s and grandchildren’s activities and took great pride in being their number one fan. James loved traveling; especially going on cruises and his energy was contagious to all who spent time with him.



James leaves his devoted and loving wife of 54 years, Marilyn (Menard) Sarkis whom he married on August 15, 1970, his daughter, Melissa Lee and her husband Toney of West Sand Lake, NY, son, James Joseph Sarkis Jr. and his wife Katie of Stamford, Vt.; grandchildren, Jadyn Lee, Jared Lee, Hunter Sarkis and Morgan Sarkis as well as a sister, Julia Lloyd of Pittsfield and a brother, Anthony M. Sarkis (Rosemary) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard J. Sarkis.



FUNERAL NOTICE: Services for James Joseph Sarkis Sr. will be on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home – WEST CHAPEL 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA 01247. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Friday from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Donations may be made to POPCARES through the funeral home. To the Sarkis Family, I remember Jimmy from years ago. He was great friends with my brother Mike Morse. I have so many great memories of them and their antics. Jimmy was always polite and respectful to me; Mike's little sister.
