Geraldine "Geri" Leonesio, 95

June 04, 2025

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. —  In Loving Memory of Geraldine Leonesio 1929 – 2025

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." – Philippians 4:13

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and great-grandmother, Geraldine (Geri) Lillian Leonesio, who passed away peacefully at the age of 95, surrounded by family.

She leaves behind her two beloved sons and daughters-in-law: John and Tina Leonesio, and Paul and Nancy Leonesio. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Trista Farnam (David Farnam), Amanda Beniwal (Rakesh Beniwal), Justin Leonesio (Katelin Leonesio), Katie Ingle (Stephen Ingle), Kristin Tatro (Jeffrey Hermanski), and Peter Tatro (Mindy Tatro). She was blessed with many great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy and lit up her world. She adored them completely and cherished every moment with them. They loved visiting her just as much, whether it was picking out treats from her candy drawer, playing with toys on the living room floor, or listening to great grandma read them a story. She adored her cat, Meke, whom she affectionately called her “baby.” Meke was truly spoiled—always running to the sound of the treat bag being shaken.

She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—watching the birds outside her window, laughing at the family photos rotating through her digital frame, and eagerly waiting for nightfall to enjoy the glow of her colorful LED lawn decorations.

She was the beloved wife of the late John William Leonesio, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage of 69 years. In her husband's final years, as he faced declining health, she stood by him and cared for him. When she was asked “What is the secret to a long, happy marriage-” She would simply say “I ask the good Lord for patience every day.” Her favorite verse, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13), was a scripture she lived by—finding strength in her faith during every season of life.

After the passing of her husband, her son John and daughter-in-law Tina lovingly devoted themselves to her care—visiting daily, running errands, and spending precious time with her.

She loved her family with all her heart. When leaving after a visit, no matter the weather conditions, she would always walk you to the door when it was time to leave, standing in the doorway to wave goodbye until you were out of sight. She would always say, “I love you. Drive safe.”,. As you walked to your car, or drove away she would always motion with her hand for you to call her once you reached home so she knew you were there safe. Even though she didn’t get to see her family down south as often as she wished, they were always on her mind. She never missed a chance to send cards or Christmas gifts and enjoyed her phone calls.

Her faith in Jesus was unwavering and a guiding light throughout her life. She was a longtime member of Community Bible Church, where she volunteered for many years helping prepare for Passover. Prior to that, she was a dedicated member of First Bible Baptist Church where she was baptized. She found comfort and support in her church family, where she was loved by all. Her favorite hymn “Amazing Grace” was a song that represented her strong faith.

We will miss her deeply but find comfort knowing she is now reunited with her family and finally in the arms of Jesus. Her legacy of faith, love, and kindness will continue to grow in all the lives she has touched
