Robert Allan Jones, 79, of Williamstown, MA died on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. He was born in North Adams on September 3, 1945, a son of the late Harwood Grover Jones and Eleanor (Powers) Jones.

So saddened to hear about Bob’s passing. He truly was the unofficial mayor of Williamstown — always ready with a story, a smile, and a kind word for everyone. As a bus driver and Mount Greylock sports super fan, Bob had a deep love for the community and especially the students he proudly got to know (and remembered) over the years. His gift of gab made every interaction memorable, and his knowledge of local history and people made him one of Williamstown’s most cherished storytellers. With his passing, we’ve lost a bit of the town’s heart and one of its most vibrant voices. He will be missed.

Bob was a regular at our home in the evenings
when my husband was alive. They were great friends through out the years.

We offer our heartfelt condolences to Bob's entire family. He gave such faithful encouragement to the students and young athletes in Williamstown. He never forgot to ask us how our sons were doing - even after 25 years. He was incredibly proud of his family and beamed as he updated us! He will be missed.

As an employee of Cumberland Farms in Williamstown for the last few years, ive really gotten to know Bob. I gained a lot of respect from him by being a hard, caring worker and him spending a lot of time there. He loved his $2 Cashwords, coffee, and various other items! We always took care of him and made sure he was happy.. Over time I became a part of his life, knowing his day to day activities and what he was up to. He was not only a valued customer, but a great friend. I will miss our conversations so much. Sending my deepest condolences to his family which he was always SO proud of. May he rest in peace.

Bob was our son's bus driver, and they became friends for over 20 years. At Mike's college graduation, we sat with Bob just talking late into the night over beers. I used to bump into Bob at Cumby's and we'd just spend time talking, catching up. He was a good man, and he will be greatly missed by our family.
