Arthur L. Fuleihan, 82

January 07, 2026

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. —

Arthur L. Fuleihan, 82, of Williamstown, Massachusetts passed away at home on January 7, 2026 of Pulmonary Fibrosis. Born on February 3, 1943 in East Orange, New Jersey, Arthur was the son of the late Harold and Ruth (Angerole) Fuleihan.

He was educated in East Orange New Jersey schools, and attended Gettysburg College where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History in 1965. He later earned a Master’s Degree in Black History at Montclair State College in 1968. While at Gettysburg, he met his future wife Diane Bradway. They were married on June 29, 1968 and Diane survives Arthur with their two daughters, Jesse Fuleihan and Sara (Alan) Stricker, and two precious grandchildren Nora & Charlie Stricker. Arthur is also survived by his sister Jane (Carl) Jenkins of Williamstown, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Fuleihan began his teaching career by returning to his hometown of East Orange where he taught middle school history for six years. In 1971, the Fuleihans accepted jobs in the Westminster (Vermont) Public Schools where they taught for 35 years. For 10 of those years, Mr. Fuleihan was a teaching-principal and was awarded the University of Vermont’s Outstanding Teacher Award.

A passionate and dedicated educator, Arthur often looked for ways to creatively integrate music into his lessons, writing comical songs to reinforce historical and geographical concepts. Arthur was a gifted guitarist and developed his love of music from youthful trips to the New York City Folk Scene of the 1960’s. After retiring, he continued this love of music by travelling far and wide to bluegrass festivals. His humorous songwriting continued with the formation of two musical groups, Guys with Guts, and the Artful Codgers, who regularly performed at open-mic events and nursing homes throughout the region. Mr. Fuleihan’s wry sense of humor lives on in satirical original songs about politics, New England Sports teams, adventures with aging, and the enduring classic “My Wife is So Healthy, She Makes Me Sick.”

Services for Arthur Fuleihan will be private, and in lieu of flowers, contributions in his name should be made to Northern Berkshire EMS, P.O. Box 1045, North Adams, MA 01247 or northadamsambulance.com/donations. To add to the book of memories please visit www.flynndagnolifuneralhomes.com

Arthur was instrumental in allowing 30 years of my career to have its beginning at the Westminster Center School in Vermont, where he served as principal. He took a personal interest in all aspects of the world of education in Westminster, injecting his leadership role with dedication, music and humor. And what a talented musician and song writer he was. Taken too soon from us, Arthur, you will be missed!

I was one of Mr Fuleihan’s lucky students in Westminster Vermont. I credit him with my love of classical music. He brought our school orchestra to hear Pictures of an exhibition by Mussorgsky performed and it is has ever since then been my favorite composition. He will be greatly missed.
