Richard Russell

March 23, 2002

Richard F. Russell, 55, of Spring Lake, N.C., formerly of Williamstown, died March 23 at home.

Born in North Adams on March 5, 1947, son of Halsey and Shirley Stokes Russell, he graduated from Mount Greylock Regional High School in 1965.

Mr. Russell enlisted in the Army in 1965 and spent more than 20 years on active duty.

He was a member of the Bethel (N.C.) United Methodist Choir, the Bethel United Methodist Bells and the Woodbridge Community Choir. He enjoyed fishing and riding his motorcycle.

He leaves his wife, Cynthia; his stepmother, Evelyn Russell of Dalton; a son, Zachery Lance of Scipio, Ind.; a daughter, Barbara Patterson of Fort Collins, Colo.; a stepson, Benjamin Alexander of Catasauqua, Pa.; two stepdaughters, Frances Brechtlein of Woodbridge, Va., and Kelly Alexander of Rochester, N.Y.; two brothers, Kenneth Russell of Severn, Md., and Robert Russell of Pittsfield, and three grandchildren.
