Catherine Hyams

Catherine Mary Hyams, 89, of 84 Bachand Ave. died Wednesday at North Adams Commons.

Born in Scotland on June 12, 1912, daughter of Felix and Rose Foran McParland, she came to the United States as a young girl and resided in the Boston area. She had resided in Cochituate for more than 28 years before moving to Williamstown in 1992.

She retired as a sales associate from Filene's in Natick, where she had worked for many years.

She was a communicant of St. Zepherin's Church in Cochituate.

Her husband, Walter H. Hyams, died in 1968.

She leaves three sons, Walter Hyams of Crystal Springs, Fla., Owen Hyams of Plymouth and Kevin Hyams of Great Barrington; a daughter, Rosemary Lane of Williamstown; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Visitations will be Friday, May 3, from 4 to 7 in the Gibbe Memorial Chapel of JOHN C. BRYANT FUNERAL HOME, 56 Pemberton Road, (off Route 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home Saturday, May 4, at 9, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Zepherin's Church, Route 27, Cochituate Village. Interment will follow in the Hyams family lot in St. Zepherin's Cemetery in Cochituate Village. Memorial donations are suggested for the Women's Exchange, Williamstown, through FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, which is in charge of arrangements.
