Clovis M. Lambert

Clovis M. "Curly" Lambert, 82, of 118 Church St., Proprietor's Field, Williamstown, died Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at the Sweet Brook Health Care Center, Williamstown.

Born in Worcester on Nov. 9, 1919, he was the son of Clovis Michael Lambert Sr. and Mildred (Rochford) Lambert. He moved to Montreal, Canada, with his family as a child and attended Holy Family Parochial schools and graduated from the Holy Family Parochial High School.

He moved back to the United States and settled in North Adams.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He returned to Berkshire County after the war and was employed at Sprague Electric Co., North Adams, for several years. From 1958 to 1985, he was employed as the head grounds keeper for the Buildings and Grounds Department at Williams College, Williamstown, retiring in 1985. He also was employed in the 1960s and 1970s as a bartender at the former 1896 House restaurant, Williamstown. After the death of his wife in 1989, he was a volunteer driver for Elder Services of Northern Berkshire.

He was a longtime communicant of St. Patrick and Raphael Parish, Williamstown, and was a member of the St. Patrick Church former Holy Name Society.

He and his wife were co-founders of the Board Brook School Parents Teachers Association, Williamstown.

His wife, Helen (O'Connell) Lambert, whom he married Sept. 1, 1947, in St. Patrick's Church, Williamstown, died Dec. 6, 1989.

He leaves a daughter, Joanne Lambert of Medford; a brother, Paul T. Lambert of Malden; two sisters, Ruth Dorey of Cornwall, Ontario, Canada, and Florence Wilson of Maplesville, Ala.; several nieces, nephews, grandniece and grandnephews.

A son, Michael J. Lambert, died Dec. 17, 1965. Two brothers, Richard R. Lambert and Robert J. Lambert, also are deceased.

Funeral services will be Friday, June 14, 10 a.m., at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, Williamstown, with the Rev. William F. Cyr, pastor of St. Patrick and Raphael Parish officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. Calling hours are Thursday, June 13, 4-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the St. Patrick Church Building Fund through the funeral home.
