Loisanne Claire Ware, 72, of Shepherd House, 405 Smith Level Road, Chapel Hill, N.C., formerly of Williamstown, died early yesterday morning at Britt Haven Nursing Home in Chapel Hill.
Born in Williamstown on Aug. 3, 1929, daughter of George and Gertrude Jones Coons, she graduated in 1947 from the former Williamstown High School, where she was valedictorian of her class and won the Bausch & Lomb science award. She also graduated from the former Henry W. Bishop III Nursing School in Pittsfield and became a registered nurse. She was a resident of Camillus, N.Y., for 40 years.
Mrs. Ware was employed by Castle Rest Nursing Home in Syracuse, N.Y., where she was director of nursing from 1974 to 1989. While there, she earned her certified geriatric nurse practitioner degree. Following her retirement, she moved from Camillus to be near her family.
She was interested in genealogy and the American Civil War.
Her husband, Donald D. Ware, whom she married July 14, 1951, died June 4, 1973.
She leaves a son, Brian Donald Ware of Camillus; a daughter, Tracy A. Burger of Chapel Hill; a brother, Craig A. Coons of Lanesboro; a sister, Paula J. Murphy of Williamstown, and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be tomorrow at 11 at Sherman Burbank Memorial Chapel in Williamstown, with the Rev. John Cunningham, pastor of New Lebanon (N.Y.) Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown, Mass. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in care of FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247, which is in charge of arrangements.
