Alberta Normandeau

Alberta B. "Bert" Normandeau, 71, of 21 Harwood St. died yesterday at home.
Born in Readsboro, Vt., on Nov. 23, 1930, daughter of Benjamin and Rachel Bishop Butterfield, she attended schools in Haverford, Pa. She graduated from Haverford Township High School in 1949. She also graduated from the University of Vermont in 1953.
Primarily a homemaker, she was employed for several years by H&R Block in Bennington, Vt. She moved to Williamstown in the 1970s.
She was an active civic volunteer for the Williamstown Garden Club and participated in many of its programs held at the Harper Center. She was a volunteer for the Williamstown Council on Aging, the Women's Exchange, a volunteer driver for cancer patients, and she worked at the Information Booth at the Clark Art Museum. An avid golfer, she was a longtime member of the Taconic Golf Club, where she organized many events and tournaments.
Mrs. Normandeau was a communicant of St. Patrick and Raphael's Parish in Williamstown.
Her husband, Joseph Edward Normandeau, whom she married February 1955, died February 1983.
She leaves a daughter, Denise Ann Gebbie of Waterford, Vt.; five sons, Joseph E. Normandeau II of South Salem, N.Y., Michael A. Normandeau of Wilbraham, David L. Normandeau of Hopkinton, Daniel A. Normandeau of Waitsfield, Vt., and James E. Normandeau of Deerfield, N.H.; a brother, Carl G. Butterfield of Winter Springs, Fla., and 12 grandchildren. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Marcella Normandeau, who died June 2, 1990.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 at St. Patrick's Church, Williamstown, with Rev. William F. Cyr, pastor of St. Patrick and St. Raphael's parish, as celebrant. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, are Friday from 5 to 8. Memorial donations are suggested for the Williamstown Garden Club or the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247.
