Roger Morrisey Sr.

Roger Joseph Morrissey Sr., 86, a former resident of Quincy Street, North Adams, died Tuesday at Williamstown Commons following a brief illness.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Jan. 19, 1916, son of Roger and Anna Quirk Morrissey, he received his early education in the Brooklyn schools and was a graduate of Catholic University in Washington, D.C.
For many years, Mr. Morrissey was a member of the faculty at St. Francis' Preparatory School in Brooklyn. A longtime resident of Morristown, N.J., he retired to the North Adams area in the early 1980s.
He leaves four daughters, Elizabeth Anne Tallon of Morristown, N.J., Regina Quinn of Williamstown, Mary Clare Martin of Newfane, Vt., and Denise Morrissey of Framingham; two sons, Roger J. Morrissey Jr. of Monterey, Calif., and John F. Morrissey of Clarksburg, and a sister, Virginia Reynolds of Staten Island, N.Y.
The funeral will be held from St. Raphael's Church in Williamstown on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at 10 a.m. where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered by the Rev. William Cyr, pastor. There will be no calling hours. Burial will take place in the family lot in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. Should friends desire contributions in Roger Morrissey's memory may be made to the Sts. Patrick's and Raphael's Food Pantry through the office of the George M. Hopkins Funeral Home, 61-67 Spring St., Williamstown, MA 01267.
