Gretta L. Neely

Gretta L. Neely, 93, of 1611 Cold Spring Road died Saturday at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in Union County, N.C., on May 22, 1907, daughter of James M. and Minnie Griffin Little, she attended Western Carolina and Mercer universities and graduated from Eastern Carolina University.
Mrs. Neely was employed as a schoolteacher by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System in North Carolina for 36 years.
Her husband, Thomas W. Neely Sr., died April 10, 1993.
She leaves a son, Thomas W. Neely Jr. of Williamstown; a daughter, Marian N. Jefferson of Pfafftown, N.C.; a sister, Irene L. Tillson of Charlotte, N.C.; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Interment for Gretta Little Neely will be Thursday in Steele Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery, followed by a memorial service in the sanctuary of Steele Clark Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Lewis Bledsoe officiating. Mrs. Neely's family will greet friends following the service in the church parlor. Memorial donations are suggested for the Cemetery Fund of Steele Creek Presbyterian Church, 7407 Steele Creek Road, Charlotte, N.C., through FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, which is in charge of local arrangements. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Elaine Neely of Williamstown; three grandchildren, Paula Brown and her husband, Mark, of Chapel Hill, N.C., Matthew Neely and K. Brevard Neely of New York City; and two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Spencer Brown of Chapel Hill, N.C.
