Patricia Benoit, 77, of Devonshire Estates, 329 Pittsfield Road, Lenox, a former longtime resident of 857 North Hoosac Road, died yesterday at Sunridge Nursing Home in East Longmeadow.
Born in Chippewa Falls, Wis., on March 18, 1925, daughter of Peter and Charlotte Nimmons Pangborn, she was a 1943 graduate of Chippewa Falls High School and attended Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Okla., and Dallas Aviation School.
She moved to North Adams in 1949. During World War II, she worked at Tinker Field Air Force Base as a civil service employee making radio repairs on B-29 bombers. Mrs. Benoit was employed as a commercial pilot and flight instructor for the former Mohawk Valley Aviation, now Harriman and West Airport in North Adams until her retirement. She also worked at Western Electric in Eau Claire, Wis.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. Her husband, Charles Noel Benoit, whom she married Feb. 5, 1951, died April 28, 1990. She leaves a daughter, Christine Nimmons Benoit of East Longmeadow; a son, David Charles Benoit of Austin, Texas, and a brother, Donald Pangborn of Sheboygan, Wis.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Benoit, Patricia Pangborn. The funeral will be private. There will be no calling hours.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown. FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, is in charge of arrangements.
A brother, Jack Pangborn, is deceased.
