Constance Mary Davis

Constance Mary Davis, 84, of 22 Elm St., died yesterday at Sweet Brook Care Center, where she had been admitted Nov 28.

Born in Warner, N.H., on July 1, 1918, a daughter of Wilfred C. and Edna Goodman Prescott, she attended schools in New Hampshire and graduated from Tolle High School in Newport, N.H. She was a longtime resident of Williamstown.

She was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams in both the Brown and Marshall Street plants. She retired in 1981 with 42 years of service.

She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a volunteer for many years with the Women's Auxiliary of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 310 and a member of the Greylock Community and Lafayette clubs, and the Loyal Order of Moose, all in North Adams.

She also was a member of Richard Ruether Post 152 American Legion Ladies' Auxiliary. She was famous for her spaghetti dinners and banquets, which helped raise money for charitable causes for those organizations. She also enjoyed dancing for many years.

She and her husband, William B. Davis, were married March 6, 1935, in Newport.

Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Prudence Gravel of North Adams and Diane E. Paul of Great Barrington; two sons, Harvey A. Davis of Charleston, S.C., and Wilfred C. Davis of Miami Springs, Fla.; a sister, Theresa M. Davidson of Burlington, Vt.; a brother, George T. Prescott of Meredith, N.H.; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Constance Mary Prescott Davis will be Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 11 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 10 to 11. Memorial donations are suggested for the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home.

She leaves eight grandchildren, Robin Bleezarde, John Gravel Jr., Brian Gravel, Donna Roper, Ronald Davis, Jason C. Paul, Craig A. Paul Jr. and William J. Paul, and her sister-in-law and friend Teresa Davis of Holbrook, whom she shared many special occasions with throughout the years. She was predeceased by five brothers, LaForrest, Freeman, Alfred, Carlton and Leslie Prescott, and a sister, Winnona E. Prescott Manthorn.
