Ellen A. Norcott

Ellen A. Norcott, 92, of 82 Emerald Lane died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in Cranston, R.I., on Nov. 28, 1910, daughter of Elmer and Eleanor DeWitt Winsor, she attended schools in Providence, R.I., and was a 1928 graduate of Commercial High School. She also attended Rhode Island School of Design. She moved to North Adams in 1931.
In her younger years, she was employed in the tax department at the Rhode Island Capitol building. While in North Adams, she worked for a short time as an assistant to Dr. Charles Welch.
Mrs. Norcott was a member of First Congregational Church of North Adams. She volunteered as a Gray Lady at North Adams Regional Hospital for nine years.
She and her husband, Richard B. Norcott Sr., were married June 11, 1932, in Ascension Episcopal Church in Wakefield, R.I.
Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Richard B. Norcott Jr. of East Poultney, Vt.; two step-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren. A daughter, Suellen Mary Norcott, died in 1942 at the age of 5 1/2 months.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Ellen A. Winsor Norcott will be Wednesday at 1 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, with the Rev. Jill Graham, pastor of First Congregational Church of North Adams, officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown.
There will be no calling hours. Omission of flowers is requested. Memorial donations are suggested for First Congregational Church of North Adams or to a charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Jean Norcott, two step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Suellen Mary Norcott, who died at the age of 5 1/2 months in 1942; three brothers, Elmer, Alfred and Irving Winsor; two stepsisters, Gladys Dyer and Olive Williamson, and a stepbrother, Mason DeWitt.
