Lola Elizabeth Briggs

Lola Elizabeth Briggs, 72, of 83 Emerald Lane, The Spruces, died Wednesday at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

Born in North Adams on April 14, 1930, daughter of Frank N. and Ruth M. Figenbaum Gigliotti, she attended local schools.

She was last employed as a housekeeper for the department of Buildings and Grounds at Williams College, retiring in 1992. She had worked for several years at the former Sprague Electric Co.

Mrs. Briggs was a lifelong communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church, where she served as an Eucharistic minister.

Her husband, Karl William Briggs, whom she married Nov. 13, 1954, in St. Padua Church, died May 14, 1992. She leaves a sister, Catherine R. Hurlbut of West Springfield.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Lola Elizabeth Gigliotti Briggs will be celebrated Saturday at noon at St. Anthony of Padua Church Parish Center in North Adams with the Rev. Daniel O'Hear, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Saturday from 9:30 to 11:30 at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St. Memorial donations are suggested for St. Anthony Church through the funeral home.

Survivors include a sister, Catherine Hurlbut and her husband, James Hurlbut, of West Springfield; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Russell and Theresa "Mickey" Briggs of North Adams; and five nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Frank Gigliotti.
