Phyllis B. Young, 72, of Hancock Road, died Tuesday at Willowood of Williamstown.
Born in Ogmore Vale, South Wales, on Aug. 18, 1928, daughter of James and Phyllis Sayers, she moved with her family to Frampton-on-Severn in England, where she attended local schools.
During World War II she was employed at Sperry Gyroscope. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Young was a longtime employee of the Springs Restaurant and Motel in New Ashford.
An active member of Second Congregational Church, she served as Sunday school superintendent at the church for many years.
Mrs. Young met her husband, David, while he was serving in the U.S. Army. They were married Aug. 20, 1945. Mr. Young died Jan. 15, 2000.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Alice Young of Williamstown, and a grandson, David J. Young of Williamstown.
Private services for Phyllis B. Young will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown in the spring. Should friends desire, contributions in memory of Mrs. Young may be made to Second Congregational Church through the office of the GEORGE M. HOPKINS FUNERAL HOME, 61-67 Spring St., Williamstown, MA 01267.
