W. Robert "Bob" Davis

W. Robert "Bob" Davis, 87, died Saturday at the Western Massachusetts Hospital, Westfield, following a long illness. He was a former resident of Church Street in Williamstown.

Born in Williamstown on June 18, 1915, son of Eugene Hiram and Charlotte Elizabeth Frazee Davis, he was educated in local schools.

He was employed by the General Cable Corp. in Williamstown for many years. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Sportsmen's Club of Williamstown.

His wife, the former Isabelle Irene Lapan, died Sept. 25, 1971.

He leaves two sons, R. Allan Davis of Lithonia, Ga., and Richard A. Davis of Dickinson, Texas; four brothers, Donald W. Davis and James R. Davis, both of Bennington, Vt., Eugene C. Davis of Casper, Wyo., and Norman L. Davis of New Smyrna, Fla.; and five grandchildren. He also leaves his guardian, Donna Sherman of Stephentown, N.Y.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- There will be no calling hours at the GEORGE M. HOPKINS FUNERAL HOME. The funeral will be Saturday, March 1, at 10 at the Sherman Burbank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Penny Rich Smith, pastor of South Williamstown Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will take place in the family lot in East Lawn Cemetery, Williamstown.

If friends desire, contributions in memory of W. Robert "Bob" Davis may be made to the Activities Fund at the Sweet Brook Care Center through the office of the George M. Hopkins Funeral Home, 61-67 Spring St., Williamstown, MA 01267. Mr. Davis is also survived by his extended family, Daniel LaCosse of Williamstown, Arthur (Joe) LaCosse of North Adams, and Wendy Perkins of Drury, and their children, Daniel, Jeffrey, Tammy, Shelby, Tara, Ashley and Ryan. He was predeceased by a brother, John M. Davis.
