Dorothy J. Jordan

Dorothy June Jordan, 83, of Orleans, formerly of Williamstown, died March 2 at home.

Born in Attleboro on June 30, 1917, daughter of Arthur and Edna Stoddard Doty, she attended schools in East Hartford, Conn. She was a longtime resident of Williamstown.

Mrs. Jordan was employed by Connecticut General Insurance Co. She was also a secretary for First Congregational Church in Williamstown.

She attended Federated Church in Orleans, where she was an active member of the Bible study group. She was also active in the League of Women Voters and a past secretary, and a member of the Book Club of Orleans, the Snow Library and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.

She and her husband, C. Wallace Jordan, retired to Orleans in 1977. He died in 1997.

She leaves a son, Jeffrey W. Jordan of Lexington; a daughter, Carol J. Lord of Bedford, N.H.; a sister, Daphne W. Doty of Orleans, and four grandchildren.

Burial services will be held in the Williams College Cemetery, Williamstown, in April at a time to be announced. Survivors includefour grandchildren; a niece; two nephews; a grandnephew, and a grandniece. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice Association of Cape Cod Inc., 923 Route 6A, Yarmouthport, MA 02675.
