Julia DeMayo

Julia DeMayo, 87, of 74 Elm St., died Wednesday at the North Adams Regional Hospital, where she was admitted March 10.
Born in Watertown on May 8, 1915, daughter of Giuseppe and Maria Ortolino Posato, she attended schools there. She moved to Williamstown in 1977. Mrs. DeMayo was employed for 36 years with B.F. Goodrich Shoe Co. in Watertown, retiring in 1969.
She was a communicant of the Parish of St. Patrick’s and St. Raphael’s, and a member of the Friendship Club at the Harper Center. She enjoyed crocheting and sold her crafts at Jiminy Peak Resort in Hancock. She was a former member of the Women’s Club of the Order of Sons of Italy in Watertown.
She and her husband, Vincent DeMayo, were married May 26, 1951, in Watertown.
Besides her husband, she leaves three stepchildren, Ann DeMayo Dellert and Judith DeMayo Clarno, both of Adams, and James V. DeMayo of West Stockbridge; a brother, Luigi “Gigi†Posato of Watertown, five stepgrandchildren, and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Julia Posato DeMayo will be Saturday, March 22, at 9 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Raphael’s Church, 207 Cole Ave., Williamstown. Burial in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be today, March 21, from 4 to 7. Memorial donations suggested for the food pantry of St. Patrick’s and St. Raphael’s churches through the funeral home. Survivors include five stepgrandchildren, Karen Richert of Plainville, Kathy Kothlow of Riverside, Calif., Joseph V. DeMayo of Adams, Andrea DeMayo of North Adams, and Kara Ottone of Great Barrington, and seven stepgreat-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Amelia Posato, on June 14, 2001.
