Caroline Mary Coombs

Caroline Mary Coombs, 87, of 25 Adams Road died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital.

Born in Bronx, N.Y., on Nov. 5, 1915, daughter of Charles and Frieda Rodenhizer Coombs, she attended schools in Jamaica, N.Y.,where she graduated from Shima High School.

An entertainer, Ms. Coombs played the piano and sang in nightclubs, the Cape Cod Yacht Club, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks clubs and for the Knights of Columbus organization. She retired in 1986 and moved to Williamstown. She was a lifelong believer in the Episcopal faith.

She leaves a daughter, Carol Etcherberia of Los Angeles; a son, Henry Schadler of North Adams, and five grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Caroline Mary Coombs will be conducted Monday at 11 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, by the Rev. Edward King, rector of St. John’s Episcopal Church in North Adams. Burial will be private.

There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (MSPCC) in care of the funeral home. Survivors include five grandchildren, Lianne M., Kyle B. and Michael T. Schadler, all of North Adams; Eric Etcherberia of Los Angeles, and Linda Marino of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
