WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Anna Isabel "Izzy" MacLean, 85, of formerly of 118 Church St., Williamstown, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, in Summerfield, Fla.
Born in Fitchburg on Sept. 29, 1917, daughter of John and Esther Baxter Meldrum, she was educated in Fitchburg schools and graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1935. She moved to Williamstown in 1950 with her husband, Alexander C. MacLean, who was a longtime area optometrist.
Mrs. MacLean was employed by Williams College in its computer center for 23 years, until her retirement in 1986.
She was a member of First Congregational Church in Williamstown, and she enjoyed sewing and fishing with her husband.
Her husband, whom she married March 29, 1941, died on Feb. 6, 1992.
She leaves two sons, John A. MacLean and his wife, Kathleen, of Hatfield and Bruce A. MacLean and his wife, Carol, of Pownal, Vt.; two daughters, Lorna A. Casey and her husband, James, of The Villages, Fla., and Trudy A. Peck and her husband, David, of Clarksburg; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Two sisters predeceased her, Helen Genova and Esther Johnson.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. MacLean will be held Wednesday, June 25, at 10 at Sherman Burbank Memorial Chapel in Williamstown, with the Rev. Carrie Bail, pastor of First Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot in Eastlawn Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Village Ambulance in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247, which is in charge of arrangements.
