Hazel A. Wells

June 18, 2003

Hazel A. Wells, 86, a longtime resident of Williamstown, died Wednesday at North Adams Regional Hospital following a long illness.

Born in Montague on April 19, 1917, daughter of Cyrus and Clara Bell Trudeau Ritter, she received her education in Massachusetts.

In her earlier years, Mrs. Wells was employed by Cornish Wire. She later owned and operated Wells Taxi for many years.

She also drove a school bus in Williamstown.

Her main interests were her home and family.

She married Horace W. Wells on Aug. 22, 1947. He died July 6, 1997.

She leaves two daughters, Cinderella M. Church of Edgewood, Md., and Patricia A. Mativi of Pownal, Vt.; a son, Horace W. Wells Jr. of Shaftsbury, Vt.; a sister, Elaine Davis of Hesperia, Calif.; a brother, Raymond Fuller of Troy, N.Y.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Clifford Ritter, and a daughter, Stella Cinderella Wells.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral will be held from GEORGE M. HOPKINS FUNERAL HOME Saturday, June 21, at 10 a.m. The burial will take place in the family lot in East Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the George M. Hopkins Funeral Home Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 when the family will be in attendance.

If friends desire, contributions in memory of Hazel may be made to the VNA of Williamstown through the office of George M. Hopkins Funeral Home, 61-67 Spring St., Williamstown, MA 01267. She was predeceased by a grandaughter, Joanne Ritter. She leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins.
