Frank Francis Falbo

Frank Francis Falbo, 89, of 567 Main St. died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in North Adams on Oct. 16, 1913, son of Dominic and Luigia Ricada Falbo, he attended schools in Jamaica, N.Y., and in North Adams, including Drury High School.
He had been a resident of Williamstown for 50 years.
An Army veteran of World War II, he trained as a radio operator. He served as a corporal with Company C of the 168th Engineer Construction Battalion in the European theater and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. He also fought in the Battles of Normandy, Northern France, the Ardennes and the Rhineland and was awarded the Purple Heart, four Bronze Stars, the Bronze Arrowhead and the Belgian Croix de Guerre.
Mr. Falbo was employed by Cascade School Supplies of North Adams for 32 years. Before World War II, he worked at the former Arnold Print Works.
Following the war, he was a real estate agent with Fowler Real Estate of Manchester, N.H., for a few years in its Williamstown office. He also worked for Hanson Construction of Hoosick Falls, N.Y.
He was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church and a member of the Mount Anthony Country Club of Bennington, Vt., the North Adams Lodge of Elks and Dr. George Curran Post 996 VFW.
He was also a member and past junior vice commander of Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion of North Adams.
He and his wife, the former Evelyn Mae Berard, celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary July 8. They were married in St. Patrick’s Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Nancy A. Spencer of Williamstown; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Frank Falbo will be Saturday, July 26, at 10:15 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Patrick’s Church in Williamstown.
Burial with military honors will take place in Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown. Calling hours will be Friday, July 25, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for North Adams Regional Hospital or St. Patrick’s Church through the funeral home.
Survivors include grandchildren Michael Peter Spencer and Lori Spencer Audet of Cheshire and Jodi Lynn Spencer of Williamstown, and great-grandchildren Tyler Nicklien Spencer, Garrison Hayden Spencer, Ryan Franklyn Audet and Spencer Allen Haley. He was predeceased by a sister, Ida Tovani, and brothers Pasquale Falbo and Joseph Falbo Sr.
