Philip F. "Flip" Taylor Jr., 69, of 41 Thornliebank Road died yesterday at home.
Born in Washington, D.C., on Aug. 24, 1934, son of Philip Taylor Sr. and Helen Burrows Taylor, he attended St. Thomas More School. He was a 1954 graduate of St. John's College High School in Washington, where he was a varsity football player and a member of the 1953 championship team that won two title games in one week.
He attended Boston University School of Communications & Public Relations.
Mr. Taylor was a member of the District of Columbia Air National Guard at Andrews Air Force Base and served in the weather squadron of a fighter-bomber unit.
He was also stationed at Lowery AFB, where he filmed and directed the dedication of the new Air Force Academy.
While at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina, he served as an aide to Major General Bruce K. Hallo-way.
He was employed by Mutual of New York Insurance Co. in Boston, where he was an underwriter and salesman and a member of the Million Dollar Producer Club. He also was a salesman for CMI Corp., which sold radar detectors and the East Coast manager of Clean Room Corp. Following his retirement in 1997, he moved to Williamstown.
He was a member of the Parish of St. Patrick and St. Raphael's and a member of Richard A. Ruether American Legion Post 152.
He and his wife, the former Joan Corrigan, were married in September 1961 at St. Mary's Church in Lawrence.
Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Philip E. Taylor III of Boston, Sean Taylor of North Adams and Mark Taylor of Caldwell, Idaho; two daughters, Maura Ann Taylor of Phoenix and Colleen P. Reinhard of Wil-liamstown, and five grandchildren. Another son, Kevin Andrew Taylor, died May 12, 1999.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Philip "Flip" Taylor Jr. will be tomorrow at 10:45 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:30 at St. Patrick's Church celebrated by the Rev. Mark Burke, SJ, pastor of the Parish of St. Patrick & Raphael's.
Burial will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors. Calling hours will be today, Friday, from 4 to 8. Donations through the funeral home are suggested for the Williamstown Elementary School Library in memory of Philip F. Taylor Jr., for whom numerous sales and marketing opportunities provided a full and satisfying life, and in memory of his son, Kevin Andrew Taylor, who died May 12, 1999. Survivors include five grandchildren, Lars, Tristan and Haley Reinhard, and Kiara and Alyssa Taylor. A son, Kevin Andrew Taylor,.
