Mary Clare Judge, 92, formerly of 165 Water St., died yesterday morning at Cherry Hill Manor in Johnston, R.I.
Born in New York City on Aug. 2, 1911, daughter of James Boland and Gertrude Barry Ryan, she moved to North Adams as a child with her family.
She graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School and, in 1928, from the former North Adams Normal School.
Mrs. Judge was a teacher in the Cheshire School System for several years until her marriage in 1937. She then became an interior decorator, with clients throughout Berkshire County.
She was a longtime member of St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown and of its former Ladies' Guild.
She was an active member of the Visiting Nurse Association of Northern Berkshire and a volunteer at the Women's Exchange.
She enjoyed writing poetry as well as going to auctions and estate sales.
Her husband, Joseph H. Judge, whom she married Oct. 21, 1937, died Oct. 10, 1987.
She leaves a son, Joseph J. Judge of Glocester, R.I.; a sister, Virginia M. Ryan of Hingham; two granddaughters, and a great-grandson.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Mary Clare Ryan Judge will be Tuesday at 9 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Patrick's Church, Williamstown, celebrated by the Rev. Mark Burke, pastor of the Parish of St. Patrick & Raphael's.
Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. Calling hours will be tomorrow, Oct. 6, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Dayle Bullett Judge; two granddaughters, Jana DeSimone and Jessica Collette, and a great-grandson, Joshua Ryan Collette.
