E. Eleanor Gipp

E. Eleanor Gipp, 76, of 5 Foxcroft Lane, Phoenixville, Pa., died Saturday at home.
She was the mother of Wendy S. Gipp of Williamstown.
Born in Flushing, N.Y., on Feb. 6, 1927, daughter of Ward M. and E. Elizabeth Jones Merritt, she graduated as valedictorian of Mineola (N.Y.) High School, earned a bachelor of arts degree from the State University of New York at Albany, and a master's degree in education from Columbia University.
Mrs. Gipp taught science in a junior high school for seven years before leaving to raise her family.
She was a 30-year member of First Presbyterian Church of Phoenixville and, as a deacon, led many activities.
She was a volunteer wherever she lived, including in New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. She volunteered for the Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, hospital auxiliaries and Girl Scouts. She taught Sunday school and was active in women's organizations.
She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, travel, playing bridge and her membership in Questers.
She and her husband, Stanley W. Gipp, were married July 9, 1949.
Besides her husband and daughter, she leaves a son, Gregg T. Gipp of Huntington Valley, Pa., and three grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for E. Eleanor Gipp will be held Saturday, Nov. 22, at 11 at First Presbyterian Church of Phoenixville, Pa. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 3 Forest St., New Canaan, CT 06840, or First Presbyterian Church of Phoenixville Memorial Fund, 145 Main St., Phoenixville, PA 19460-3562.
