Marie Wilmer Bradford, 87, died Thursday at the Sweet Brook Care Center, where she had lived for the past nine years.
She formerly lived at 47 Highland Ave. in Adams.
Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 8, 1916, daughter of Peter W. and Rosella Bowe McBride, she attended the Adams public schools and was a graduate of the former Adams High School in 1936. She then attended Mount St. Vincent's College in the Riverdale section of Bronx, N.Y., where she graduated in 1940 with a bachelor's degree in business science.
She returned to Adams and went to work for Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams as a sales manager, retiring in 1972 when she became a full-time homemaker.
Her husband, Stephen Tower Bradford, whom she married on July 18, 1940, in St. Thomas Aquinas' Church, died on Jan. 9, 1979.
She leaves a daughter, Martha Bowe Belanger of Adams, and two granddaughters and a grandson.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- There will be a Christian Burial Service in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams for Marie Wilmer McBride Bradford today. A Memorial Mass will be offered at the convenience of the family.
McBRIDE FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include two granddaughters, Megan Smith of Hopedale and Danielle Erdmann of Springfield; a grandson, J. Bradford Belanger of Charlottesville, N.C., and nieces and nephews.
