Roger Michael Vincelette, 80, of 1 Higgins Court died Thursday at the Williamstown Commons, where he had been admitted Oct. 24.
Born in North Adams on Oct. 26, 1923, son of Ernest and Rosalie Desjarlais Vincelette, he attended schools in North Adams, including the former Notre Dame Commercial School.
Mr. Vincelette was a decorated World War II veteran serving with the Army Air Corps as a sergeant with the 9th Fighter Squadron.
He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theater campaign ribbon, the Philippine Liberation ribbon with Bronze Service Star and other citations.
Following his military career, he was employed for 38 years by Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams retiring in 1985.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church in North Adams, a life member of the Greylock Community Club in North Adams and a longtime member of the Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion in North Adams.
He leaves two sisters, Doretta Varieur of North Adams and Bernice Vincelette of Kings Mountain, N.C.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral Services for Roger Michael Vincelette will take place Monday at 12:15 p.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, State Road, North Adams.
Burial with military honors will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations are suggested for the Greylock Community Club through the funeral home.
He was predeceased by five brothers, Ozias, Armand, Claude, Henry and Louis Vincelette; four sisters, Almire Vincelette, Beatrice Remillard, Laura Benoit and Gloria Hodge.
He leaves several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews.
