Marshall S. Hannock

Marshall S. Hannock, 84, of Williamstown and Boynton Beach, Fla., died Feb. 1 at Del Ray Medical Center in Del Ray Beach, Fla., of pneumonia.
Born in Albany, N.Y., on May 29, 1919, son of Dr. Elwin W. Hannock and Ruth Stafford Hannock, he graduated from Albany Academy and, in 1942, from Williams College, where he was an outstanding athlete, especially in football and hockey.
A veteran of World War II, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served with the 3rd Battalion (Chamber's Raiders), 4th Division, 25th Marines. He was wounded July 4, 1945, on Saipan and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
Mr. Hannock built and operated Latham Bowl and Bowling Green and Lake George Bowl, both in New York state.
He was a trustee of Home and City Savings Bank, now Trustco Bank Corp. NY, and was chairman at the time of his retirement.
He served on many civic and volunteer boards. An avid golfer, he was an active member of the Little Club in Gulfstream, Fla., and the Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown.
He was also a 50-year member of the Schuyler Meadows Club in Loudonville, N.Y., as well as the Fort Orange Club in Albany.
Besides his wife of 53 years, the former Elizabeth Willard, he leaves a son, Stephen Willard Hannock of Williamstown; a daughter, Sally Stafford Hannock of Cambridge, and a granddaughter.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial celebration for Marshall Hannock will be held in June in Williamstown. Those who wish may make memorial donations to Williams College, Taconic Memorial Fund, Williamstown, MA 01267.
He also leaves his granddaughter, Georgia Elizabeth Hannock of Williamstown; two nephews, Elwin W. Hannock III of Avon, Conn., and Antony Hannock of Australia; a niece, Marbury M. Hooey of Philadelphia, and seven grandnieces and grandnephews. SCOBEE-COMBS-BOWDEN FUNERAL HOME, Boynton Beach, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
