William F. Paradise Sr

William F. Paradise Sr., 65, of Boynton Beach, Fla., formerly of Williamstown, died at home Feb. 9. He was under the care of Hospice of Palm Beach, Fla.
Born in Adams on March 12, 1938, son of Frances DeMers Paradise, he attended the former Williamstown High School and Monson Academy and was an athlete, lettering in three sports.
While in the Army, he was a starting outfielder for the Fort Lee, Va., Travelers baseball team, which won the 2nd Army Championship in 1960. After he was discharged from the Army, he and his family settled first in Pownal, Vt., and then in Williamstown, where they raised their children.
He was employed at Photech Corp. on Cole Avenue, and owned the Williams News Room on Spring Street for several years. He also worked at the Taconic Golf Club and Waubeeka Golf Links before retiring to Florida.
He was also a former deputy sheriff of Berkshire County.
He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church. He was an active member of the Elks Club and the American Legion Post 152 in Williamstown. While in Pownal, he coached Little League baseball for several years.
He leaves his wife, the former Mary Jean Maselli of North Adams, whom he married in 1959; a son, William F. Paradise Jr.; a daughter, Kelli Paradise Gomeau Corr; a sister, Shirley Paradise Reilly of Mansfield, Conn., and a grandson.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- William F. Paradise will be buried in Williamstown in the spring. Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33407.
Survivors include his son's fiancee, Kristin Cornell of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; a son-in-law, Robert Corr; his beloved 11-year-old grandson, Brandon Gomeau of East Greenwich, R.I.; his brother-in-law Michael Reilly, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his former son-in-law, Edward Matne Gomeau, and his mother, who died in October 2003.
