Jennie Pierce

Jennie Pierce, 94, of 499 Green River Road died Thursday at the Sweet Brook Health Care Centers, where she had been admitted on April 16.

Death followed a brief illness.

Born in Adams on Dec. 25, 1909, daughter of Anthony and Katzyna Pokia Luczynski, she attended schools in Windsor.

She was a homemaker all of her life, and a longtime communicant of St. Patrick and St. Raphael Parish.

Her husband, Martin E. Pierce Sr., whom she married Aug. 29, 1928, in St. Francis' Church, North Adams, died Feb. 23, 1998.

She leaves one daughter, Mildred "Dir" Giamborino of Williamstown; one son, Ret. Col. Martin E. Pierce Jr., U.S. Army, of Alpharetta, Ga., and Marco Island, Fla.; two sisters, Mildred Lepak and Florence Greenlaw, both of North Adams; three brothers, Chester Luczynski of Enfield, Conn., William Luczynski of Fairlee, Vt., and Naples, Fla., and Anthony Luczynski Jr. of North Adams; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Jennie Luczynski Pierce will be celebrated Monday at 10 at St. Patrick's Church, with the Rev. Mark Burke, pastor of St. Patrick and St. Raphael Parish, as the celebrant.

Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, are Monday from 8:30 to 9:30.

Memorial donations are suggested for the Williamstown Food Pantry through the funeral home. Survivors include one son-in-law, Paul Giamborino; one daughter-in-law, Linda Pierce; three grandchildren, Judy Giamborino, Matthew Pierce and Gail Phelps, and three great-grandchildren, Michael, Brian and Danielle Pierce.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Matthew, Zigmond and Leo Luczynski.
