Mary Louise Resio

Mary Louise Resio, 82, of Proprietors Fields died Saturday in the palliative care room at Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, Vt.

Born in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 11, 1921, daughter of Vincenzo and Marianna Cammarata Cocimano, she was educated there.

She had resided in Adelphi, Md.

Mrs. Resio was employed for 20 years in the physics department of the University of Maryland. She retired as a scanner, measuring images from the high-energy, particle physics bubble-chamber.

She was proud of her Sicilian heritage, and enjoyed speaking the language and making Italian dishes. She also did china painting, especially of flowers and fruits, and sewed and crocheted.

In her youth, she was an accomplished roller skater.

Her husband, Augustus C. Resio, is deceased.

She leaves two sons, John Resio of Pownal, Vt., and Michael Resio of Williamstown; a daughter, Carole Hackney of Cincinnati; a sister, Lena Reap of Adelphi, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Graveside services for Mary Louise Resio, who died June 26, 2004, will be tomorrow, June 29, at George Washington Cemetery in Adelphi, Md., where she will be buried next to her husband.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests gifts in her memory be made to either the Rockwell Den Palliative Care Room at CLR or the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center in care of HANSON-WALBRIDGE FUNERAL HOME, P.O.
