Marion E. Norton

September 17, 2004

Marion E. Norton, 83, of 118 Church St. died Friday evening at North Adams Regional Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Williamstown on June 17, 1921, daughter of Russell J. and Alice F. Weyers Norton, she was educated in schools there.

Miss Norton was employed in the office of Dr. Andrew R. Knowland, DDS, for 33 years, retiring in 1987. While Dr. Knowland was serving in the Army, she worked for Dr. Chester Budz, DDM, for two years.

Earlier, she managed the former River Street Cut Rate in North Adams.

She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church.

She leaves a brother, James Norton of Adams.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Prayer Service for Marion E. Norton will be held tomorrow, Sept. 21, at 9:30 at GEORGE M. HOPKINS FUNERAL HOME in Williamstown, followed by a Mass of Christian Death and Burial at St. Patrick's Church at 10. Interment will follow in the family lot in Eastlawn Cemetery.

Friends may call today, Sept. 20, from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Memorials in her honor may be made to the Leukemia Society of America through the funeral home, 61-67 Spring St., Williamstown, MA 01267. She leaves her sister-on-law, Mary; nieces and nephews, including Casey J. Norton of Scotia, N.Y., Dr. Jeffrey Norton of Menlo Park, Calif., Christopher Rowe of North Aams, Kelly Blanchette of Hadley and Kimberly Rowe of Holyoke.

She is also survived by a great-niece, several great-nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a sister and two brothers.
