Lauretta J. Baker O'Neil, 65, of 580 Main St. died Tuesday at North Adams Regional Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Rutland, Vt., on Feb. 16, 1939, daughter of Paul and Mildred Cote LaPine, she attended schools in Rutland, including St. Peter's Parochial School and St. Joseph Academy.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. O'Neil was employed at Leo's Variety Store for several years and also at General Cable Co. in Williamstown and Pownal, Vt.
She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 310 Ladies Auxiliary in North Adams.
Her first husband, Bernard F. Baker Sr., whom she married April 20, 1956, died July 22, 1979.
She leaves her husband, George O'Neil, whom she married July 28, 1984; three daughters, Kimberly Galli and Wendy Sherman, both of Williamstown, and Paulette Huls of North Adams; three sons, Bernard F. Baker Jr. and Christopher Baker, both of Pownal, and Gregory Baker of Adams; a stepdaughter, Suzan O'Neil-Hogue of Pittsfield; two sisters, Pauline Shaker of North Adams and Irene Roucoulet of Rutland; a brother, Richard LaPine of Rutland; 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Lauretta J. LaPine Baker O'Neil will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 at St. Raphael's Church, Williamstown.
Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. Calling hours will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams, which is in charge of the arrangements.
She was predeceased by a brother, Paul LaPine Jr.
