George E. Drewniak

January 24, 2005

George E. Drewniak, 64, of 62 Smith Ave. died Monday at North Adams Regional Hospital.

Born in Chicopee Falls on Aug. 5, 1940, son of John and Hazel Frances Voudren Drewniak, he attended schools in Orange, Springfield and Worcester.

He moved to the Berkshires in the 1990s.

An Army veteran, he served as a drill sergeant.

Mr. Drewniak was a sewing machine mechanic for several textile mills in the Athol and Orange area, retiring in the 1990s. He had earlier been employed for several years by Digital Electronics Co. in Springfield as a programmer.

He was active in the Spruces Mobile Home Park community helping neighbors. He also was a past president and board of directors member of the Spruces Mobile Home Park Club, and a member of the bylaws committee.

He enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles, and fishing. He was an avid reader.

He leaves his former wife, Joyce Dean of Amesbury; three sons, Randy Drewniak of Troy, N.Y., John Drewniak of Turners Falls and Eric Drewniak of Milford, N.H.; two daughters, Gail Hill of Amanda, Ohio, and Nancy Eggleston of Chicopee; four brothers, Earl Rico of Orange, Charles Rico of Clearwater, Fla., Ricky Rico of Greenfield, and John Redcloud of the state of Kentucky; 12 grandchildren, and caregiver, Margaret Harwood of Williamstown.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services to celebrate the life of George E. Drewniak, who died Jan. 24, 2005, will take place Friday at 11 at Sherman Burbank Memorial Chapel, Williamstown.

Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, will be Thursday from 4 to 6.

Memorial donations are suggested through the funeral home. Survivors also include his best friend and caregiver, Margaret Harwood of Williamstown.
