Peter N. Palmer

March 15, 2005

Peter N. Palmer, 60, of 35 Arnold St. died Tuesday at North Adams Regional Hospital after being stricken earlier at his home.

Born in Lynn on Nov. 7, 1944, he was the adoptedson of John and Wilma Murray. He attended schools in Palmer and graduated from Palmer High School.

He was a veteran of U.S. Coast Guard.

At the time of his death, Mr. Palmer was the owner and operator of Peter Palmer Painting & Wallpapering Co., serving the state of Connecticut and, since 1999, serving Berkshire County and southern Vermont.

He first worked at the former Sherman Williams Store in North Adams as the manager several years, and then worked at the Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown and several golf courses as an assistant golf professional, including Hollywood Links in Hollywood, Fla., Shaker Ridge Country Club and the Normanside Country Club, both in Albany, N.Y., and the Torrington Country Club in Torrington, Conn. He then was employed as a salesman with the Rainbow Co.

He was member of the Richard Reuther Post 152 American Legion in Williamstown.

He also was a member of North Adams Lodge 487 Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and the Waubeeka Golf Links in Williamstown.

He leaves a son, Peter Nicholas Palmer II of Williamstown; three sisters, Louise Albert, Florence Jones and Barbara Stearns, a brother, Joseph Palmer and a grandson.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Graveside services for Peter N. Palmer will take place Saturday at 11 in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown, with full military honors, Calling hours will be Saturday from 9 to 10:30 at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME for FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams.

Memorial donations are suggested through the funeral home. Survivors include his grandson, Nicholas Enrico Palmer.
