Edward H. Beers Sr, 84

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Edward Hanford Beers Sr., 84, of 123 Adams Road died Sunday, April 10, 2005, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
Born in Stratford, Conn., on May 5, 1920, son of Edward H. and Ruth A. Steeves Beers, he was a graduate of Stratford High School. He also graduated from the University of Chicago Medical School.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served with the medical detachment of the 38th Infantry Regiment.
He was honorably discharged in 1946. He also served in the Connecticut National Guard.
Mr. Beers was self-employed in the medical industry for many years. He also worked for the Connecticut Department of Public Health. He moved to Williamstown after his retirement.
He was an active member of the American Legion, and was an officer in its Connecticut department.
He also was a member of the VFW post in Bridgeport, Conn., and Post 12 American Legion in Bennington, Vt.
His wife, the former Eleanor Adkins, died in 1997.
He leaves two daughters, Jean Szwec of Brookville, Ohio, and Laurel Denson of Leesburg, Fla.; a son, Edward H. Beers Jr. of Pittsfield; a sister, Ruth Ruskin of Stamford, Conn., six grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren, and his friend, Berneice Noyes of Dalton.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Graveside committal services for Mr. Beers will take place Tuesday, April 19, at 1 at the family lot in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown.
There will be no calling hours. Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, is in charge of arrangements.
