WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Maureen Regan Crane, 77, of 857 North Hoosac Road, formerly resident of Rye, N.Y., died Friday, April 22, 2005, at her home.
Born in Washington, D.C., on Feb. 29, 1928, daughter of Thomas and Irene Regan Lane, she attended schools there and in Maryland. She graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in English literature in 1941 from Catholic University in Washington, where she was very active in the theater program.
She lived with her family in Rome and Trieste, Italy, from 1946 to 1951, and later in Providence, R.I., and Queens, N.Y., before moving to Rye. She moved to Williamstown in October 2004.
Mrs. Crane was employed as a librarian at the Rye Free Reading Room and later at the Scarsdale (N.Y.) Public Library.
While a resident of Rye, she was a communicant of The Resurrection Catholic Church. She was a former Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader.
Her husband, George William Crane, whom she married on Nov. 22, 1951, in Washington, died July 31, 1990.
She leaves a daughter, Mary K. Crane of Williamstown, with whom she resided; a son, George Thomas "Sam" Crane and his wife, Maureen, of Williamstown; a sister, Catherine P. "Pat" Lane, also with whom she resided, and two grandchildren, Margaret and Aidan Crane.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Crane will be celebrated Tuesday, April 26, at 10 at St. Patrick's Church, Williamstown.
Calling hours at Flynn and Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, will be Monday from 5 to 7 and at Graham Funeral Home in Rye, N.Y., on Tuesday from 5 to 7. Burial will take place Wednesday at 11 in Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye.
Memorial donations are suggested for The Resurrection Church in Rye, N.Y.
