Madelyn Joan Serrano, 83, of 55 Hall St. died yesterday morning at home.
Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 26, 1921, daughter of George H. and Edith Farley Tubbs, she grew up on the West Side and attended local schools, including Pittsfield High School.
Mrs. Serrano was employed by the former Hunter Outdoor Products Co. in North Adams, retiring in 1979. She worked at GE during World War II, and as a cook and waitress at the former Frank's Luncheonette and Andy's Diner, all in Pittsfield.
She was a communicant of the Parish of St. Patrick and St. Raphael and a founder of the Parents' Association for the Drury High School band in North Adams.
She was an active supporter of St. Jude's Children's Hospital and of the St. Anthony Society. She enjoyed cooking and taking vacations.
She leaves two sons, John J. "Spider" Enos of Clarksburg and Manuel J. Serrano of North Adams; three daughters, Mary A. Rivera of Williamstown, with whom she had made her home for 30 years, Valentina Clermont of New Ashford and Nina Joann Briggs of Claremont, N.H.; 15 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Madelyn Serrano, who died May 16, 2005, will be Friday, May 20, at 9 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 at St. Raphael's Church, Williamstown.
Burial in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. Donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in care of the funeral home.
Three sisters and a brother are deceased, Frances "Mary" Collias, Ellen Delphia, Ruby Tubbs and John Tubbs. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
