Amelia Adams, 45, of 585 Pine Cobble Road died Wednesday evening at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in Wauwatosa, Wis., on Jan. 25, 1960, daughter of Edward "Ned" Gamsky and Joan Koch Gamsky, she graduated from Wauwatosa West High School in 1978.
She graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in communication arts in 1982 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Mrs. Adams was employed as an account executive at television station WTEN in Albany, N.Y. She then began working as an actor, performing in more than 50 plays from San Francisco to Cooperstown, N.Y., receiving three best actor awards. Area theaters in which she performed included the Oldcastle Theatre Company, New York State Theatre Institute, the Leatherstocking Theatre, the Theater Barn, the Albany Civic Theatre and the Columbia Civic Theatre.
She also performed in more than 170 on-camera productions, including television commercials, industrial videos, hosting local network specials such as the Real Estate Showcase on TimeWarner Television, independent films and major motion picture features. She also taught acting at several local schools and served as an adjunct professor at Williams College, teaching an acting course in the winter study program.
She was a member of Actors' Equity Association, the American Federation of Radio and Television Actors and the Screen Actors Guild.
Besides her father and mother, of Fort Myers, Fla., she leaves her husband, Colin Adams; a daughter, Alexa Adams of Williamstown; a son, Colton Adams of Williamstown; a sister, Teresa Schlicting of Bloomington, Minn., and a brother, Thomas Gamsky of Moraga, Calif.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Amelia Adams will take place Sunday at 2 at the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Williams College to be followed by a reception at the Williams College ‘62 Center for Theatre and Dance.
Private burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for Alex's Lemonade Stand Fund, an organization that fights pediatric cancer, the Oldcastle Theatre Company or for the Theater Barn through the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME for FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, which is in charge of arrangements.
