Frances M. Mace

Frances M. Mace, 82, of 62 Charles St., a former longtime resident of Chelmsford, died Wednesday afternoon at Sweet Brook Care Center.

Born in Arlington on May 20, 1919, daughter of Oscar and Mary Simpson Heinrich, she graduated from Arlington High School in 1936 and from Lesley College in Cambridge in 1939.

After raising her family, Mrs. Mace taught kindergarten in the Billerica public schools for 10 years during the 1960s and '70's.

Her husband, Douglass A. Mace Sr., whom she married June 8, 1942, in Seabrook, N.H., died Jan. 17, 1999.

She leaves two daughters, Kathryn Russell of Lowell and Sharon Clark of New Ashford; a grandson, and two great-grandchildren. A son, Douglass A. Mace Jr., is deceased.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Aurora Cemetery in Aurora, Maine. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society in care of FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247, which is in charge of arrangements.
