WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Harry J. Carey Jr., 74, of Simonds Road died Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at home after a brief illness.
Born in North Adams, Mass., on Feb. 24, 1931, son of Harry Carey Sr. and Elizabeth Jennings Carey, he was a graduate of the former Williamstown High School.
An Army veteran, he served with the Army of the Occupation in Germany following World War II.
Mr. Carey was employed by Treadway Motor Inns, starting with the company part time at the age of 12. He worked throughout the Northeast, advancing to management. He retired from the accounting department of Treadway's successor, Wellesley Inns, in Wellesley.
He leaves two sisters, Janet Winn of Pownal and Barbara Winn of Williamstown, and numerous nieces and nephews.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for Mr. Carey will be Friday, July 15, at 10 at Sherman Burbank Chapel in Williamstown. Interment will follow in the family lot in Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown.
There will be no calling hours. Memorials in his honor may be made to the Parish of Sts. Patrick & Raphael's Food Pantry through GEORGE M. HOPKINS FUNERAL HOME, 61-67 Spring St., Williamstown, MA 01267.
