Alice M. Godfrey

Alice M. Godfrey, 75, of 580 Henderson Road died Monday morning at the Sweetbrook Health Care Centers.

Born in Williamstown on Feb. 27, 1930, daughter of Archie and Bessie Davis Godfrey, she graduated from the former Williamstown High School.

Ms. Godfrey was employed as a bookkeeper for 52 years at the Taconic Lumber Yard.

She also was the owner and operator of the Godfrey Horse Stables on Henderson Road.

She was a life member of the White Oaks Congregational Church. She was a member of the United States Trotters Association.

An avid motorcycle rider, she bought her first Harley in 1949.

She leaves nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Graveside Committal Services to celebrate the life of Alice M. Godfrey will take place Thursday at 2 at the family plot in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown, with the Rev. Penny Rich Smith,, pastor of the Second Congregational Church of South Williamstown, officiating.

There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations are suggested the Diane LaPlant Horse Farm through FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME for FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams.

Survivors include three nieces, Diane Hunt, Dolores Kornn and Sharon Wetteland and two nephews, Chuck Hunt and James Godfrey Jr.

She was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Hunt, who died Dec. 5, 1986, and a brother, James E. Godfrey Sr. who died August 27, 2005.
