Margaret Saunders

Margaret Saunders, 84, of Williamstown and Eastham died Oct. 18 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.
Born in Watervliet, N.Y., on Sept. 18, 1921, daughter of Moses Minoogian, who emigrated from Van, Armenia, and his wife, Ardemas Bizdigian, who emigrated from Greece, she moved to Armenia as a child and attended school there for a few years.
She graduated from Watervliet High School in the top of her class.
She and her husband, Arpiar G. Saunders Sr., founded Greylock Photoengraving Co. in North Adams. During World War II, she ran all aspects of the business. The company worked with many national publications, including Yankee and High Fidelity magazines; with educational institutions, including Williams College and the University of Massachusetts, and with the Clark Art Museum.
She enjoyed gardening, the Red Sox and music, and often danced with her husband to the sounds of big bands in their family room. She was self-taught in the stock market and had a passion for the culture of Armenia, continuously supporting a child in an orphanage there.
She spent summers on Cape Cod Bay.
Her husband died May 29, 2004.
She leaves three children, Arpiar G. Saunders Jr. of Hopkinton, N.H., Diane M. Saunders of North Easton and Sandra V. Saunders of Whately; a sister, Agnes Spiak of Watervielt; five grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for the family was conducted at St John's Church, Williamstown, on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005, by the Rev. Peter Elvin, rector. The organist was Barbara Kourajian and the Crucifer was William Parsons. Words of Love and Reflections were offered by family and friends.
Pallbearers were Margaret's grandchildren, Matt, Arpy and Alice Saunders, and Margaret and Kathryn Williams, and next-door neighbor and close friend, David Hyde. Burial followed in the family plot in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. Services were under the arrangement of FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA FUNERAL HOME, 521 West Main St., North Adams.
