Roma M. Mirke

Roma M. Mirke, 94, formerly of 87 North Summer St., recently of Wiliamstown Commons, died Tuesday evening at North Adams Regional Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Adams on Jan. 31, 1911, daughter of Joseph and Josephine McDougal Dionne, she attended Adams schools.

After school, she went to work at the Berkshire Fine Spinning Company until it closed in 1957. She later went to work at the former Adams High School as a member of the food service staff.

She was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame/St. Thomas and attended Notre Dame Sept Douleurs Church.

She was also a member of the Turn Verein Women's Auxiliary and a member of the Rosary Society of Notre Dame.

Her husband, Edward N. Mirke, whom she married on Aug. 20, 1928, died Aug. 8, 1987.

She leaves a daughter, Carol Lee Wysocki of North Adams; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Ronald Mirke, who died in 1984.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be offered in celebration of Roma Mirke, who died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006, on Saturday at Notre Dame Church, Adams.

Burial will follow in the family plot in Bellevue Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Saturday, Jan. 21, from 10 a.m. until a prayer service at 10:30 at McBRIDE FUNERAL HOME. The family suggests memorials in her memory be made to the Alzheimer's Fund and the Cancer Research Foundation of America through the funeral home, 6 Liberty St., Adams, MA 10220.

She also leaves a son-in-law, Frank Wysocki, six grandchildren, Sherry Orcutt, Steven and Eric Mirke, Susan Baker, Marci Bratcher and Kathy Berti; seven great-grandchildren, Melanie LaFlamme, Amberlee Orcutt, Nicholas, Nathan, Seth and Zachary Mirke and Melissa Harrington; a step-grandson, Mark Poirot; three step-granddaughters, Karen Ward, Kathy Poirot and Susan Tovani, and a step-great-grandaughter, Voni Corpuz.

She was predeceased by five brothers, Russell, Alder, Arthur, Gerald and Victor, and four sisters Dora Lamm, Delia Rolland Green, Blanche Zwiercan and Hazel Meany.
