Andre E. Martell Sr., 62, of 504 North Hoosac Road died Saturday at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in North Adams on Dec. 3, 1943, son of the late Edward P. and Aldea Beauvais Martell, he attended schools there and moved to Williamstown in 1968.
He served in the Army National Guard for six years.
Mr. Martell was a self-employed carpenter. Before that, he was employed in the maintenance departments of Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield and the former Sprague Electric Co., North Adams.
He was a communicant of St. Patrick-St. Raphael's churches and a member of Greylock Community Club in North Adams and the Williamstown American Legion.
He enjoyed hunting and spending time at his camp in Stamford, Vt.
His wife, the former Gloria A. Davis, whom he married June 6, 1964, died Feb. 22, 1993.
He leaves a son, Andre E. Martell Jr. of North Adams; a daughter, Tammy L. Anderson of Clarksburg; a brother, Joseph P. Martell of Adams, and four grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Andre E. Martell Sr. will be Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 9 from AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS Funeral Home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Patrick's Church, Williamstown, celebrated by the Rev. Mark Burke, SJ. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams.
Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, North Adams Cub Scout Pack 35 or North Adams Boy Scout Troop 88, through the funeral home.
He also leaves his companion of many years, Tina Maynard, of Williamstown; a daughter-in-law, Melissa Martell; a son-in-law, Murray Anderson; a sister-in-law, Irene Martell, and several nieces and nephews.
