WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Mary Ellen McMahon, 89, of 118 Church St., Proprietor's Field, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006, at Williamstown Commons.
Born in the Blackinton section of North Adams on Feb. 24, 1916, daughter of Edward and Helen Murphy Winn, she attended schools in North Adams, including the former Archer School and Drury High School.
Mrs. McMahon was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams for several years. She was last employed at Williams College in the mailroom, from which she retired in 1981.
She was a longtime communicant of the former Our Lady of the Incarnation Church in North Adams and later St. Patrick's Church. She was a member of the Williams College Retirement Club. She was a devoted mother and homemaker.
Her husband, John William McMahon, whom she married on June 8, 1936, died March 15, 1971.
She leaves two sons, Brother John Edward McMahon, FSC, of Narragansett, R.I., and Richard Bruce McMahon of Pownal, Vt.; a sister, Catherine Winn of Williamstown, and four brothers, Edward Winn, Alfred Winn, and Chester Winn, all of Williamstown, and John Winn of Pownal, Vt.
She was predeceased by a brother, Elbert "Bud" Winn.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mrs. McMahon will take place Saturday, Feb. 25, at 10 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Williamstown. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are today from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested for the Western Massachusetts Alzheimer's Association through the funeral home.
