Patricia A. Dean, 72, of 518 White Oaks Road died Friday at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in Williamstown on April 6, 1933, daughter of Andrew and Helen Archambeault Nutting, she was a 1952 graduate of the former Williamstown High School.
Mrs. Dean was employed by Williams College from 1972 to 1999 as secretary to the football office and athletic department, a position that her late mother also held and that is now held by her daughter, Karen Ware of North Adams.
She enjoyed bird watching, gardening and collecting buttons. She was an active member of the Ladies' Auxiliary of Pownal American Legion Post 90.
Her husband Karl Harold Dean, whom she married Oct. 12, 1957, died April 29, 1994.
Besides her daughter, she leaves a son, Kevin Dean of North Pownal, Vt.; a sister, Marilyn Vince of Williamstown; a brother, Andrew Nutting of Shaftsbury, Vt., and four grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Patricia Nutting Dean, who died March 3, 2006, will be Wednesday at 9 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPEL, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for Village Ambulance through the funeral home.
Mrs. Dean died at North Adams Regional Hospital after a brief battle with lymphoma, surrounded by her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She also is survived by her son-in-law, Christopher; her daughter-law, Lynn; four grandchildren, Tyler, Kristyn, Amanda and Justin; two sisters-in-law, Susan and Diane, and two brothers-in-law, Herman and Samuel. Two sisters, Marion and Ruth Nutting, died in infancy.
