Archibald D. "Red" Wilson Jr.

Archibald D. "Red" Wilson Jr., 85, of 1067 North Hoosac Road died Sunday at North Adams Regional Hospital.

Born in Bainbridge, N.Y., on May 19, 1920, son of Archibald D. Wilson Sr. and Mabel Lewis Wilson, he attended Richmond schools. He also took several machine shop courses in Pittsfield.

An Army veteran of World War II, he served as a private first class with Company D, 52nd Medical Battalion, and received the bronze service arrowhead among other campaign medals.

Mr. Wilson was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams in the tool and die department, retiring in 1990. In his younger years, he owned and operated a woodworking shop in Richmond.

He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, a photography club in Adams and the Laryngectomy Club in Pittsfield, and a former member of Richmond Masonic Lodge.

His wife, the former MaryAnn Lavalle, whom he married June 30, 1951, in Pittsfield, died June 2, 1986.

He leaves two sons, Bruce A. Wilson of Brookline, N.H., and David S. Wilson of Williamstown; a sister, June Robadue of Pittsfield, and five grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Archibald D. Wilson Jr. will be celebrated tomorrow, March 29, at 2:30 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Williamstown by the Rev. Peter Elvin.

Burial with military honors will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPEL, North Adams, will be tomorrow from 12:30 to 2. Memorial Donations are suggested for the charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247.

He leaves two daughters-in-law, Lisa and Brenda Wilson; a brother-in-law, Donald Robadue, and five grandchildren, Trevor Wilson and his wife, Lindsay, Nicholas Wilson and his wife, Charlotte, Douglas Wilson, Gregory Wilson and Alexis Wilson.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Stanley and James Wilson, and by two sisters, Dorothy Elms and Grace Massengo.
