William Granger

William Nelson Granger, 69, of West Melbourne, Fla., formerly of Williamstown, died Wednesday in West Melbourne, Fla.
Born in Chicago on Dec. 26, 1931, son of Nelson and Kathleen Granger, he received his bachelor's degree from Bradley University and his master's degree from Cornell University. He also did graduate work at Northwestern University in Illinois and the Illinois Institute of Technology under a National Science Foundation scholarship.
He served in the Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Granger taught mathematics in public and private schools in Illinois, New York state and Massachusetts. He was most recently employed at Taconic Hills in Hillsdale, N.Y., for 20 years. He retired in 1992 and moved to Florida from Williamstown.
He was a member of the Richard E. Reuther Post 152 American Legion and served as a veterans agent in Williamstown. He enjoyed reading and performed volunteer work at the West Melbourne Library.
He leaves his wife, Nancy; five daughters, Kathleen Airoldi of Hubbardston, Donna Giangrande and Rhonda Mazza, both of North Adams, Laura Brodeur of Pittsfield and Stephanie Granger of Williamstown; a sister, Barbara Einwiller of Largo, Fla., and nine grandsons.
